7.30pm Evening Concert with Gian Castello and Kitia Benedetti
Thanks to Mary Carlton Reynolds, Creative Ireland Longford, for organising this late addition to the Ardagh Fright Fest programme. We really look forward to this enchanting concert.
Darkness, Light and Enchantment
From Trad to Sidhe, a musical journey to the Celtic Lands at Samhain, when the veil between the two worlds becomes thinner...
Gian Castello, from Italy, is a fervent follower of Celtic culture i.e.
the culture which has its roots in Ireland, Scotland, Wales and
Brittany, and has studied Irish flute with various Irish teachers (John Lee, Co. Donegal, and the legendary Micho Russell, Co. Clare).
He lives at present in Drumshanbo, Co Leitrim.
He draws inspiration from the poetry of the ancient bards and has
produced four poetical-musical works (book and CD: "Merlin the
Enchanter", "Taliesin", "The Secret Kingdoms", "Rama, the primordial
Druid"), one CD ("The Stone in the Field" or "La pietra nel campo")
with the English harper Steve Haggerty and "To Drive the Cold Winter
Away" with fiddle player and singer Devon MacGillivray.
Video taken by Colette O'Neill, Bealtaine Cottage, Co. Roscommon, at the very entrance of her Fairy Wood during Samhain preparations.
Lovely video
